The demand for biodegradable products continues to grow

Consumers, companies, and regulations have driven the replacement of conventional plastic products with alternatives that have a lower environmental impact. Single-use items such as spoons, trays, and food packaging are among the main applications seeking more sustainable materials.

However, turning this demand into viable products for industry remains a challenge. At the same time, different DeepTech companies already have new sustainable materials and products developed and validated, including at industrial scale, such as the single-use biodegradable spoons developed by BIOPOLIX.

Sustainability must also be industrially viable

Many biodegradable materials have limitations in processing, mechanical performance, or cost, making their adoption on existing production lines more difficult.

For manufacturers, the challenge is finding a material that combines sustainability, performance, and compatibility with conventional industrial equipment.

Biopolix's solution

BIOX002 is Biopolix's biodegradable biocomposite, developed to manufacture rigid products through injection molding.

Produced from BIOX001 bioresin and wood flours from renewable sources, the material makes it possible to manufacture biodegradable utensils and packaging using conventional industrial equipment, reducing dependence on fossil-based plastics. The new material developed and validated by BIOPOLIX combines sustainability, performance, and compatibility with conventional industrial equipment.

Developed for industry

BIOX002 was developed for processing on conventional extrusion and injection machines, allowing integration with existing production lines and facilitating the adoption of biodegradable materials without the need for major investments in new equipment.

Performance combined with sustainability

In addition to compatibility with industrial processes, BIOX002 was developed to offer mechanical strength and stability suitable for everyday applications, including products intended for food contact that have been tested and approved according to current standards.

Its formulation incorporates wood flours from renewable sources, adding value to plant residues, helping reduce the use of fossil-based raw materials, and contributing to sustainability.
